Located at 229 Lake Ave, Traverse City, MI 49684, Rare Bird Brewpub operates as a bar serving Traverse City in Michigan. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as bar, brewery, restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

Traverse City is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Traverse City follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

The best cheeseburger on the worst day of my life. We came here unplanned, needing food after a long day at the nearby pet hospital. We had just put our cat down and I'm sure the server felt so awkward by our crying at the table. She was great and gave us space though. The booths give great privacy! The classic cheeseburger was perfect. Husband enjoyed the pork belly. Beer was excellent. Highly recommend if you need a therapeutic space, or even just, ya know, a normal nice outing.

My husband and I came here for the first time. You are given menus and place your order at the bar, We first sat outdoor then moved indoors. We shared the hummus board and the fish tacos. Everything was very good. While indoor, a large family came in with a party of 15. The kids were running around and parents did nothing so we went outside. If you sit in the booths, than you get a server.

Original review: We came in at 9:45 pm and they were happy to take our food order. They stop serving food at 10pm so we were grateful to make it. We got the pub burger and the chicken nachos. They were both GREAT! We're glad we came here. REVISION UPON A SECOND VISIT: We went back for the burger and the nachos because both were so good the other night. Alas, they must have had their best chef in the kitchen three nights ago and not in house tonight. Don't get me wrong, we're always grateful for hot, clean food but when your burger is super dry, your lemonade is watered down and your nachos are covered in salt and skimped on toppings, you begin to wonder if your first visit was a fluke. The woman behind the bar offered us a sticker "for our troubles" after we candidly let her know that the food wasn't good. After spending $40 on a lacking food experience, a gift card or a discount would have been more appropriate. We understood the gesture but come on, it's obvious a place like this makes plenty of money on their brews.

My family of 4 got into town late and nearly everywhere else was closed after 9am on a weekday. This place came in clutch though! Their kitchen was open until 10pm on weekdays I believe. We all enjoyed our meals and our waiter was great. Kids got chicken nuggets and cheese quesadilla...the apple side was a little light as they are thin sliced. Wife got a delicious and healthy buddah bowl and I got the vegan cheeseburger with Impossible patty. Oh and the full height wall booth seating was awesome! Great place all around! Would recommend if you're in the area.

Rare Bird never disappoints. Great food, exceptional cocktails, and a staff thatβs actually happy to see you. I especially appreciate that all the burgers are available with gluten-free bunsβand theyβre actually delicious. And the pride flag at the entrance? Says everything about the vibe: welcoming, inclusive, and worth coming back to.
